Are Fibromyalgia Or Polymyalgia Making It Harder To Get Comfortable And Sleep Well?

Fibromyalgia can bring widespread pain, fatigue and disturbed sleep, while polymyalgia rheumatica can cause pain and stiffness around the shoulders, neck and hips. A Comfomatic adjustable bed gives you more control over your position, support and comfort when getting settled for the night.

When comfort becomes difficult

When pain, tenderness or stiffness follow you into bed, comfort can become much harder to find.

Pain and discomfort can affect people in very different ways. For some it is lying flat. For others it is pressure around the back, hips, knees or shoulders, or the effort of changing position. We start by understanding exactly what makes bedtime difficult for you.

1

Lying Flat

When one fixed sleeping position no longer feels comfortable through the night.

2

Back & Joint Discomfort

When aching joints, arthritis or back discomfort make it harder to settle and relax.

3

Changing Position

When you need more choice over how your upper body and legs are supported in bed.

4

Rest & Relaxation

When finding a comfortable position for sleeping, reading or relaxing has become more important.

A more flexible way to get comfortable

Adjust the bed around the way your body feels on the day.

A traditional flat bed gives you very little choice over position. A Comfomatic adjustable bed allows you to raise and lower your upper body and legs independently, helping you explore different positions until you find the one that feels most comfortable for you. We listen first, then show you the options that may suit your individual needs.

Comfort can be about more than changing position.

Alongside adjustable positioning, many Comfomatic beds can be specified with optional heat and massage functions. These features are designed to add warmth, comfort and relaxation while you rest. They are comfort features and are not treatments for fibromyalgia or polymyalgia rheumatica.

Fibromyalgia and polymyalgia are different conditions

Fibromyalgia is a long-term condition commonly associated with widespread pain, fatigue and sleep problems. Polymyalgia rheumatica causes pain and stiffness, particularly around the shoulders, neck and hips, and usually requires medical treatment. If you develop a new severe headache, scalp tenderness, jaw pain when chewing or changes to your vision alongside polymyalgia symptoms, seek urgent medical advice.
